Strava Automations

Turn it on once. Every new activity gets a creative title, a roast, or both, the moment it uploads to Strava.

Automations is a free Roast My Strava feature that titles and roasts your new Strava activities for you. About half the activities our users upload keep the name the watch gave them. When a new one lands with a default name like Morning Run, Lunch Ride or Evening Walk, it gets a real title about five seconds later, written from that activity: the distance, the pace, the hour, the climbing, where you were, the photo. You don't open an app or press anything.

Pick a style once: Roast, Funny or Plain. Turn on the roast too and a short roast is added under your own description, full strength or a gentler Light roast.

Anything you name yourself stays yours, before or after. Rename one of ours and it is logged and never touched again. Every title and roast shows up in your history, and every title has Undo and Get another.

Titles it has written

Real automatic titles athletes kept. Yours will be about your activity.

  • Total Ellipse of the Heart1 hour 52 minutes on the elliptical
  • Short Attention Spandex10 minute workout
  • Interval Training, Mostly IntervalHIIT session, 39 minutes moving, 23 minutes stopped
  • Lunch Meeting Ran Long32 mile ride starting at 1:32 pm on a Monday
  • The Slow Must Go On2 mile run, route done 6 times, slower each time
  • Mountains Sold Separately32 km Zwift ride, 137 m of climbing

Every title starts from the activity's own numbers, so the same joke never shows up twice.

Roasts it has written

From real automatic roasts athletes left on their activities.

  • Wearing an ultramarathon shirt to this is like wearing a chef's hat to make toast.10 km run in 71 minutes, ultramarathon shirt on
  • Every rep lost speed like a Wi-Fi signal wandering away from the router, until interval four was basically buffering.Four 400 m repeats, each slower
  • Riding 18 miles to end up just 5 miles from where you started is the cycling version of a taxi driver who spotted an out-of-towner.18 mile ride, finished 5 miles from the start

How it works

  1. 1

    Connect Strava

Log in with Strava and open the settings page.

  2. 2

    Switch it on

Pick a style and see the title your last default-named activity would have got.

  3. 3

Go for a run or a ride

Upload as usual. A few seconds later it has a real name. Make it your own if you want.

Questions people ask

Which activities does it rename?

Only new activities that still have a default name like "Morning Run", "Lunch Ride" or "Evening Walk", and only ones uploaded after you switch it on. Anything you have named yourself is left alone. Private activities get them too, and stay private.

What if I don't like the title?

Rename it on Strava like you normally would; the app notes it and never touches that activity again. Or open your history and tap Get another, or Undo to put the default name back.

Can the roast be gentler?

Yes. Pick Light roast in your settings for a softer roast with a little credit mixed in.

What does it add to the description?

One line at the end, "Titled by www.roastmystrava.com". If you turn on the roast, two sentences go under your own text first. Your own description is never changed or removed.

How is this different from Bandók or Strautomator?

Bandók swaps default names for lines from a list of puns and quotes, so the title is not about your activity. Strautomator is a rule builder for many kinds of automation; its free plan uses AI names on about one activity in ten. Automatic titles does one thing: every title is written from that activity, in the style you pick.

Is it safe to connect my Strava account?

It uses Strava's official API. You log in with Strava and allow uploads so the app can change the title and description of new activities; it can't change anything else. Turn it off on the settings page, or disconnect Roast My Strava in your Strava settings, at any time.

Does it cost anything?

It is free during early access. Jason pays for the AI himself. Reach out with feedback, ideas, or to support it.

Can I turn it off?

One switch on the settings page. Turning it off stops it right away; titles already written stay unless you undo them.
